Why is it that people are so drawn to babies? Even though they continuously dirty themselves, and are completely dependent on us, we still love them? What is the sense of this madness?! Babies seem parasitic, yet we love them, why? Because the shechina of Hashem- G-d’s presence- lies on the child because he is completely free of sin. As a child gets older, and develops a higher consciousness, simultaneously developing a yatar hara- inclination to sin- the presence of the shechina departs from him, and even his parents notice the difference in his neshama, and at times they become irritated with him.
